Huge Weekend for Golf

The 2013 Solheim Cup
The 2013 Solheim Cup

We’re getting towards the end third of the golf season, where things start getting intense. This weekend, were looking at the US Amateur taking place about only 50 minutes from my house at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. Also, the Wyndham Cup is going on right now, the first full field before the FedEx Cup playoffs on the PGA Tour. And last but for sure not least, is the Solheim Cup, taking place tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday, in Colorado.

To say I’m pumped for this weekend is an understatement. Just the Wyndham Cup and US Amateur being played in the same week is a great week, but add in the Solheim Cup and we’re talking about one of the best weekends of the year. 10 of the best American women golfers playing for their country is amazing to say the least, all decked out in red, white, and blue. Add in the American themed bags, clothes, shoes, and nails, and there’s nothing better. Obviously, I’m pretty excited for this years Solheim Cup. With ten rookies, including 6 on the European side and 4 on the American side, this years Solheim cup is all about the youth.

I was going to do an in-depth preview on the Soheim Cup, but I’ll just do a quick one. The Americans are the favorites on paper, and I’m predicting that they are going to be victorious, but not by much. This year’s European team, I predict, is going to play better than expected. Look for Suzann Petterson to lead the European team, using her past Solheim Cup experience as a booster. Also, look for Michelle Wie to play well this week, especially on the final day. Wie has been getting a lot of crap for being the captain’s pick, so I expect her to shut her critics up and play how I know she can. All in all, it is going to be a great weekend for golf, and go Team USA!
